Add to the Stress Table

I don't know that this can qualify as a tablescape because its just something I did at the last minute after deciding to invite my brother and mother for dinner on Sunday. The kitchen was a disaster with dozens of Easter cookies, I have no idea why I tend to double the disaster in the house from time to time. Why couldn't I have just made Mr. Hubby and I a sandwich for supper as I worked on the cookies rather than doing a big dinner and inviting my family over? Well that will be a later post this week on the Easter cookies. This is just a simple spring table here in Michigan as we wait for the weather to turn the corner.  

This centerpiece is one I love, its filled with faux spring flowers and I added little linen hankies between the branches just for a little extra interest.

The vesle is one that was a gift from a dear friend many years ago, I love it for it's ability to fill in a large space when needed.  There are three separate cones that can also hold fresh flowers in addition to faux.  I use it often on my kitchen island. As you can see in the background the grass is getting green.  It was cold and very windy yesterday but at least everything was looking green. This is important because....

This is what we woke up to this morning, snow, snow, snow with more snow expected. Check the background just 12 hours after we had set down to dinner.  It really does get old when this sort of thing happens this late in the season.  OK, I'll stop whining now, well maybe.

It's hard to get a shot of this piece so that you can see that there are three separate flower cones.

I have a little collection of cement pieces, these two birds are guarding the nest.  I believe I picked these up at Nell Hill's but I'm not sure.  If they didn't come from NH then they are probably from HG or TJ's.

I used cream soup bowls for our chopped salad yesterday.  I just don't often get to use my collection for creamed soup so I thought the pretty chopped spinach salad would look yummy when presented in these little beauties.  This bowl is English Stratford, the pattern is Wedgewood Edme. The baby chicks came from Hobby Lobby.

Here is a shot of the side of Stratford bowl, its a little larger than the other three and is fluted on the bowl.  I'll be looking for a few more of these as spring brings yard sales and antique markets.

I pulled the baby chick out of this bowl so you could see the pretty pattern inside the bowl.  I was surprised when I turned this bowl over to find that its from Syracuse China in New York, the pattern is Old Ivory. This pattern goes very well with my spring dishes.

This piece is Lamberton's "Natalie".  It's also made in America and the pretty blue pattern inside the bowl and on the handles brings out the spring blue in my china.

Although this pattern is not my favorite it is a pretty delicate pattern and I do love the butterflies that on the opposite side of the flower pattern.  This is Heinrich German Bavarian China.

All four of these cream soup bowls came from an online auction, the price of the lot of four was $6.  Since I picked them up locally there was no shipping charges added.  The china is one I've used for a couple of tablescapes, I think it looks so pretty for spring, its Johnson Brother's Summer Chintz.
