Lemonade in the Snow Anyone?

I thought we could revisit this post I did last February for Beverly's Pink Saturday.  With the whole country suffering with heat indexes over 100 looking at a pink tablescape on a snow covered table seemed to be appropriate.

This week's table is a reflection of our recent snowstorm here in Michigan.  I am in a pink mood right now and noticed that I had several pink things on my island so I decided to make a tablescape on one of the small tables on the porch.  Our porch is very deep on the back and we hardly ever get an accumulation of snow so this was an unusual opportunity.

Pink Lemonade in a beautiful hobnail pitcher I found at Salvation Army. The stack of plates are Palm Restaurant on the bottom, Johnson Brother's Summer Chintz in the middle and Crate and Barrel under the sherbet glass.

You can see on the plate that as I was setting up the table it continued to snow and the place setting ended up with snow on all the plates.

The snow sundaes are served in silver and cut glass sherbet cups that I found
in an antique store in South Carolina.

The silver and porcelain candelabra is from Marshalls.
There is about 2 inches of new snow on the table, our total for the 24 hour
period was over 14" and the drifts over our drive way were over 3 feet deep.

Inside each lemonade glass was a linen napkin, a cake fork for the
lemonade cake and a silver spoon for the snow sundae.

Unfortunately it was so cold outside that the cloche kept fogging over no matter
now many times I wiped it down so the pink lemonade cake is a little foggy
 looking in the background.

I have to tell you that when my brother saw this tablescape on the porch he said he was sure I was nuts and that the neighbors were telling their children to walk on the other side of the street when they passed by our house.  Obviously he doesn't understand the joy of a tablescape.

Giggling about your brother. My husband says things like that too! I asked me this week if what I was working on was a clown valentine.

I, of course, LOVE that it's set on the porch and really like that cup of snow on the plate. I love people who think creatively!

Putting the flatware in the glass with the napkin and ribbon around it was so different and cute too. Sometimes, the glass needs to be the center of attention.

Char, You win the award (whatever that is) for most creative tablescape this week! :) It truly does make us smile. Your dishes are just lovely and I am trying not to covet that gorgeous, gorgeous hobnail pitcher. Love it! Your brother just doesn't "get it"...LOL, but his comments really did make me grin.

Great job, Ms. DishLady!

You win the prize. I love your table. I wanted to do something like this (not as clever as yours though...) but we only got a dusting this week. I love the pink and white and the snow ice cream and the lemonade and the pitcher and the candelabra and the cloche.. I think I just drank it all in! Thanks for dropping in with your kind comments. And you are not nuts, it's funny he should think that ;-)

You and I were thinking alike. I was going to do a table on top of the snow too a few weeks ago, then when it was time to do it, the snow wasn't as pretty anymore. I loved the effect! Lemonade and snow - what a juxtaposition. So pretty and fun.

This is so neat. I love all of that pink in the snow. You were so brave to confront the forces of nature.

Your brother needs to be "schooled" right away! ;-) What a clever idea! Making lemonade out of lemons when you're snowed in! You guys seem to have caught it a little worse than we did. We got about 12" with drifts up to 3 feet. This kind of weather is NO fun...except when you make pretty pink tablescapes in it! Have a wonderful weekend, and keep 'scaping in the snow!
