The characters, the costumes and the countryside are just a symphony of what one would expect of life in England in the early 20th. century. I was hooked after the first thirty seconds, truly I encourage you to click on the link and watch this series on-line, it is well worth the time. PBS ran this in January and hopefully will run it again prior to introducing the second series. If you enjoy the production you can also purchase it on Amazon for $16.99. I'm going to purchase three or four copies for gifts for friends and families, and of course one for myself. I did see at the end of the last episode that they do plan to continue with more. The English version which contains seven episodes is available on Amazon also but my understanding is you need to have a DVD formatted for the United Kingdom.
So if you find yourself snowed in on Wednesday, settle in near the fireplace and enjoy.

Oooh...this looks like something I would enjoy! Thanks for telling us about it! Happy week!...hugs...Debbie
I have loved watching this series, too! Can't wait for the next set of episodes -- such great characters!
I bet I would like it too Char.
This looks like something I would love. thanks so much for sharing. Thanks for dropping in and leaving your kind comment.
it looks like it might be a fun program, I had never heard of it. Thanks for visiting Crafty Geordi. I have other skirts like the one shown, I need to go through my fabric stash and find the waistbands. Hopefully I didn't throw them away!!
I like Masterpiece Theater too. Our local PBS has it now and then.
MoDot does a pretty good job, but we don't have the big snows like we used to, so it takes them a bit. We are cleared out here at home. Someone came with a skid loader and dug our streets out. We are rural, so no city snow removal. Since the subdv is private no county removal either. We are dependent upon the kindness of neighbors.
I think I would love this. I have to check it out. Hugs, Marty
Hi Miss Char, I ordered this show from amazon a few weeks ago after seeing so many excellent reviews of it. It has been taking quite a long time to come--first they were out and now it is delayed somewhere due to all the storms! But we love Masterpiece and all the British programming, so I am really looking forward to receiving it! I also recommend Foyle's War if you haven't seen it. And I scrolled back through your pictures of Arlington! Breathtaking! They truly left me speechless. Linda
This looks great. I will have to try to catch it next time. Hugs, Ginger
I love Masterpiece Theater. I remember a series from many many years ago about a lovely young girl who married a brother, got word he was killed in the war, married either the other brother or the farmhand, he came back. Oh, the scenery, the costumes, the emotions! I love the way the British do period pieces. You almost get so involved in the set and accessories, it is hard to focus on the plot. Lovely! Thanks for stopping by to visit. I hope your snow stopped at 14"!
Thanks for telling all of us about this series. Looks wonderful! One of my favorites from PBS was "As Time Goes By" with Judi Dench.

From one Anglophile to another, I LOVE all Masterpiece Theater programs. Have you seen the new Sherlock Holmes?
