Grace & Favor – A Life Worth Living

Black & White

I have two tables that I usually have set with some sort of a tablescape most of the year.  This one today is in our living room and I decided to do something out of my comfort zone.  I normally don't use placemats and certainly not a bold black and white chevron print.  Way out of my zone but the ones below caught my eye on the clearance bin at Home Goods.  The placemats were the start of a black and white table with one small splash of color.  I had planned to use a few peonies from my gardens but the poppies out front were just screaming to be the pop of color for this table.

For each placesetting I took a small tureen from my entry cabinet.  I paired each of them with a black and white dot under plate and a white dinner plate and also has a small dot that outlines the under plate.  Most of these mini tureens no longer have the ladle with them, the indention is there but no sign of the ladles when I came across them.

I inserted two touches of silver to this table, the other piece is a silver water pitcher.

I think the mix of the contemporary and the old with the white stoneware is a perfect combination.

This particular piece is very similar to the large tureen in the center of the table.

This piece does not have the ladle indent, its too large to be a sugar bowl so I'm not sure what its function was.  If you have an idea please let me know.

I hope you enjoy my nod to vintage meets contemporary.

Awesome! I'm loving this table and all the adorable small tureens you've used for every place set! The plates are all great too. I love it all!

Beautiful, I agree the Chevron print is very striking agains al the white. Your table is perfect with the peonies.

Well, that may be out of your comfort zone but you knocked it out of the park. It is very sophisticated looking. Love it- and great job- xo Diana

I love black and white. It's a favorite, crisp, combination of mine. I don't know what the smaller bowl is, but I love the shape and look of it. Maybe it's like a compote dish or something?

The whole table looks so pretty!

I, totally, agree with your "mix of the contemporary and the old with the white stoneware is a perfect combination".

You know I LOVE THIS. So just where do you have this little table that is large enough for a small Tablescape? Simply precious with elegance. I agree with the others. You nailed it!

You are the one who inspired me to start a white tureen collection! I love the shape of the last one even tho I don't know it's purpose either.

So glad I popped over. You always inspire me Char.
