Work With It

Winter is a long reality here in Michigan and this winter is turning out to be a challenging one.  When the Christmas decorations come down I tend to leave some winter items up for a couple of months.  Today I have my dining table set for a friends luncheon.  It seems to make more sense to have a gathering after the holidays when everyone's life settles back into a normal pace.  If you would like to see last January's table from 2012 please click here.

After the holiday I was able to pick up two small fir trees to use as a centerpiece.  I dropped them into some shiny paint buckets I had leftover from Christmas.  I had used them for planting Paper Whites and  Amaryllis for the holidays.

  1. Greetings from one Michigander to another! Isn't this some winter we're having! I like your table- the tin buckets are cute with the little trees. I have some amaryllis coming up but they are growing so slowly I'm hoping I'll see flowers before the end of the mont. I think they want more warmth! Stay warm!

  2. Happy New Year from a Dixie Land which is much colder than we like it to be. If I'm miserable with our 17 degrees, I can't imagine Michigan!

Love the whole thing, from the concept of meeting after the busy holidays to the table itself. It's just beautiful and makes me want to copycat you and invite friends for lunch.

But, nah. I'll just stay here alone and whine instead.

  6. Such a pretty table -- you can never go wrong with all white. I, too, keep some decorations up into January, but we try to get them down by MLK weekend. I'm on a roll this week. Are we going to get more snow up here in the freezing North?
